
Meatball Subs with Marinara Sauce
A classic meatball sub recipe that repurposes expired frozen meatballs and reduces food waste.

Ingredients
- 4 sub rolls
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup expired frozen meatballs
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the sub rolls lengthwise, leaving one side attached. Place them on a baking sheet.
- Spread marinara sauce on one side of each sub roll.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the expired frozen meatballs according to package instructions.
- Place the heated meatballs on top of the marinara sauce in each sub roll.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, dried basil, and garlic powder evenly over the meatballs.
- Drizzle olive oil over the top of each sub roll.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve the meatball subs warm.
