Ingredients
- 4 slices of expired whole wheat bread
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried herbs (such as oregano, basil, or thyme)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 cups mixed salad greens
- Your choice of salad dressing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut the expired bread slices into small cubes.
- In a bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, dried herbs, salt, and pepper.
- Add the bread cubes to the bowl and toss until they are coated with the oil mixture.
- Spread the bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the croutons are crispy and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool.
- In a large bowl, combine the mixed salad greens and your choice of salad dressing.
- Add the homemade croutons to the salad just before serving. Enjoy!
