Ingredients
- 4 slices of slightly expired white sliced bread
- 2 cups of milk
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup of shredded cheese
- 1 cup of diced vegetables (e.g. bell peppers, onions, mushrooms)
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of dried herbs (e.g. thyme, oregano)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a baking dish and set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, salt, black pepper, and dried herbs.
- Tear the slightly expired white sliced bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the diced vegetables and shredded cheese over the bread.
- Pour the milk mixture evenly over the bread and vegetables.
- Gently press down on the bread to ensure it absorbs the liquid.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
