Creamy Rice Pudding
This delicious rice pudding recipe is a perfect way to use up expired milk while ensuring food safety. The milk is heated to a high temperature during cooking, which helps kill any bacteria that may have developed.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice
- 4 cups expired milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
In a large saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
Add the rice to the boiling water and cook for 5 minutes. Drain and rinse the rice under cold water.
In the same saucepan, combine the cooked rice and expired milk. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Reduce the heat to low and add the sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Stir well to combine.
Simmer the mixture for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice is tender and the mixture thickens.
Remove from heat and let the pudding cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm or chilled, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.
