Mesquite Banana Bread
Make use of expired mesquite powder by adding a smoky flavor to a classic banana bread recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons expired mesquite powder
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Stir in the expired mesquite powder.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and enjoy the mesquite banana bread!
