
Turkey Gravy Shepherd's Pie
A delicious and comforting shepherd's pie that uses expired turkey gravy mix, ensuring food safety and reducing food waste.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 cup expired turkey gravy dry mix
- 1 cup water
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.
Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the expired turkey gravy dry mix and water until well combined.
Pour the gravy mixture into the skillet with the meat and vegetables. Stir well to combine.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top of the meat and vegetable mixture.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the mashed potatoes are golden brown.
Allow the shepherd's pie to cool for a few minutes before serving.
