Fleur De Sel Caramel Sauce
Indulge in a sweet treat by making a homemade caramel sauce with expired Fleur De Sel.
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon expired Fleur De Sel
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
Continue cooking without stirring until the mixture turns into a deep amber color. Remove from heat immediately to avoid burning.
Carefully add the heavy cream to the caramelized sugar mixture while stirring constantly. Be cautious as it may bubble up.
Return the saucepan to low heat and stir in the unsalted butter until melted and fully incorporated.
Remove from heat and stir in the expired Fleur De Sel.
Allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly before serving. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Serve over ice cream, pancakes, or use as a dip for fruits.
