
Linguini with Tomato Sauce
Transform expired dry linguini into a delicious pasta dish by pairing it with a homemade tomato sauce. Ensure the pasta is cooked thoroughly and combined with a well-cooked sauce for safety.
Ingredients
- 200g expired dry linguini
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 400g canned crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Add the expired dry linguini and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Cook it for an extra minute or two to ensure safety.
While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, sugar, dried basil, and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper.
Simmer the sauce for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the flavors meld together.
Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and add it to the saucepan with the tomato sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta.
Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese on top.
