
Chayote Stir-Fry
A delicious stir-fry dish made with slightly expired chayote.
Ingredients
- 2 chayotes
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Peel the chayotes and cut them into thin slices or matchsticks.
2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
3. Add the minced garlic and sliced onion to the skillet and sauté until fragrant.
4. Add the chayote slices, red bell pepper, and julienned carrot to the skillet.
5. Stir-fry the vegetables for about 5-7 minutes until they are crisp-tender.
6. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
7. Pour the sauce mixture over the stir-fried vegetables and toss to coat evenly.
8. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
9. Remove from heat and serve hot.
