Caramel Apple Bread Pudding
Create a delicious and comforting bread pudding using slightly expired applesauce. The caramel sauce adds a sweet and indulgent touch to this classic dessert.
Ingredients
- 4 cups stale bread, cubed
- 2 cups slightly expired applesauce
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the stale bread cubes and slightly expired applesauce. Let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the applesauce.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Pour the milk mixture over the bread and applesauce mixture. Stir well to combine.
Fold in the raisins and chopped walnuts.
Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish and drizzle the caramel sauce on top.
Bake for 45 minutes, or until the bread pudding is set and golden brown.
Allow the bread pudding to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serve warm and enjoy!
