Stilton Cheese and Caramelized Onion Tart
A savory tart that combines the creamy and tangy flavor of Stilton cheese with sweet caramelized onions, using slightly expired but safe Stilton cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 200g Stilton cheese, slightly expired but safe
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Add the sliced onions and cook until golden brown and caramelized, stirring occasionally for about 20 minutes.
Add the balsamic vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper to the pan with the onions, and continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
Crumble the Stilton cheese over the onions.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Cut into slices and serve warm as an appetizer or alongside a salad for a light meal.
