Caramel Flan
Delicious caramel flan made with slightly expired but safe opened sweetened condensed milk.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups slightly expired sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a small saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns into a golden caramel.
Pour the caramel into a flan mold, swirling it around to coat the bottom.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, slightly expired sweetened condensed milk, water, and vanilla extract.
Pour the mixture into the flan mold over the caramel.
Place the flan mold into a large baking dish filled with hot water, creating a water bath.
Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
Remove from the oven and let it cool to room temperature.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, place a serving plate on top, and invert the mold to release the flan.
Slice and enjoy the creamy caramel flan.
