Ingredients

  • 1 lb octopus, commercially frozen raw
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 jalapeno, seeds removed and finely chopped
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Thaw the octopus according to package instructions.

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the thawed octopus and cook for 30 minutes, or until tender. Drain and let cool.

Once cooled, slice the octopus into bite-sized pieces.

In a large bowl, combine the octopus, red onion, jalapeno, lime juice, and orange juice. Mix well.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, allowing the flavors to meld.

Before serving, stir in the chopped cilantro and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve the octopus ceviche chilled, garnished with additional cilantro if desired.
