Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed vegetable baby food (expired but safe)
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened.

Add the expired mixed vegetable baby food, diced tomatoes (with their juice), dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to combine.

Simmer the sauce over low heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile, cook your favorite pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Once the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded together, remove from heat.
