Mixed Berry Crumble
A delicious crumble made with slightly expired frozen berries that is safe to eat.
Ingredients
- 2 cups mixed frozen berries
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the frozen berries, granulated sugar, and cornstarch. Stir well to coat the berries evenly.
Transfer the berry mixture to a baking dish.
In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.
Add the cold and cubed unsalted butter to the dry mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Spread the crumble topping evenly over the berries in the baking dish.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the berries are bubbling.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serve the mixed berry crumble warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
