Goat Cheese and Tomato Tart
A tasty tart recipe that creatively uses expired goat cheese crumbles, reducing food waste while ensuring food safety.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup expired goat cheese crumbles
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangular shape.
Transfer the rolled pastry onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Using a fork, prick the pastry all over to prevent it from puffing up too much during baking.
Spread the expired goat cheese crumbles evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
Arrange the cherry tomato halves on top of the goat cheese.
Drizzle olive oil over the tomatoes and season with salt and pepper.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the tomatoes are slightly caramelized.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh basil leaves.
Allow the tart to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Serve as an appetizer or alongside a fresh salad.
Enjoy!
