
Golden Almond Cookies
Delicious almond cookies topped with edible gold leaf, using expired but safe-to-consume gold leaf.

Ingredients
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
- Expired edible gold leaf (365 days after expiry)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine almond flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add almond extract, softened butter, and egg to the bowl. Mix well until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a ball.
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Gently press a small piece of expired edible gold leaf onto the top of each cookie.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes.
- Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
