
Guava Jelly Thumbprint Cookies
A delightful way to use expired guava jelly, these thumbprint cookies are a sweet treat that reduces food waste. The expired guava jelly is safe to consume and adds a burst of fruity flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Expired guava jelly (365 days past expiration date)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
Add the flour and salt to the mixture and mix until just combined.
Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Using your thumb or the back of a spoon, create an indentation in the center of each cookie.
Fill each indentation with a small spoonful of expired guava jelly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are slightly golden.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
