
Spicy Pepper Shrimp Stir-Fry
A delicious and fiery stir-fry dish made with slightly expired hot pepper sauce. Ensure the hot pepper sauce is commercially bottled, unopened, and safe to consume. Properly cooking the shrimp will ensure food safety.
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce (commercially bottled, slightly expired)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the sliced bell peppers and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
Push the bell peppers to one side of the skillet and add the shrimp to the other side.
Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hot pepper sauce, sugar, salt, and black pepper.
Pour the sauce over the shrimp and bell peppers, and stir to coat evenly.
Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions.
Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
