
Stir-Fried Vegetables with Hoisin Sauce
A quick and safe recipe that transforms expired hoisin sauce into a flavorful stir-fry sauce for fresh vegetables.
Ingredients
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (such as bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, and snap peas), sliced
- 2 tablespoons expired hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the minced garlic and stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp.
In a small bowl, whisk together the expired hoisin sauce and soy sauce.
Pour the sauce over the stir-fried vegetables and toss to coat evenly.
Optional: Add sesame oil and red pepper flakes for additional flavor and spice.
Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
