Flour Tortillas
A simple and versatile recipe for homemade flour tortillas using slightly expired all-purpose flour.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
Slowly add warm water and oil, stirring until a dough forms.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 3-5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each into a ball.
Cover the dough balls with a damp cloth and let rest for 15 minutes.
Heat a dry skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
Roll out each dough ball into a thin, round tortilla.
Cook the tortillas one at a time in the hot skillet for about 30 seconds per side, or until lightly browned and puffed.
Transfer cooked tortillas to a plate and cover with a clean cloth to keep warm.
Serve warm and use for tacos, quesadillas, or wraps.
