Orange Marmalade
Make a delicious orange marmalade using expired but safe oranges. The cooking process ensures food safety.
Ingredients
- 6 expired oranges
- 4 cups sugar
- 4 cups water
Instructions
Wash the oranges thoroughly under running water.
Cut the oranges into quarters, remove the seeds, and slice them thinly.
In a large pot, combine the sliced oranges, sugar, and water.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Skim off any foam that forms on the surface during simmering.
Continue simmering until the mixture thickens and reaches a marmalade consistency.
Remove the pot from heat and let the marmalade cool for 10 minutes.
Transfer the marmalade to clean, sterilized jars and seal tightly.
Store the jars in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
Enjoy the orange marmalade on toast, scones, or as a topping for desserts.
